21 Jul Skytrax Awards 2018: Air Canada and Air Transat lend wings to Canada
Air Canada awarded as Best Airline in North America and Air Transat as Best Airline in the World for Vacation Travel.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards are considered the Oscars of the airlines and are awarded, on the basis of a survey submitted this year to 20 million travelers in 105 countries with 320 airlines for a period of 10 months. In the survey opinions are expressed about 50 criteria, indicators of performance of products and services, both at the airport and on board (eg: check-in, boarding, seat comfort, services).
The Edition 2018, whose awards ceremony was held in London on 17 July, saw Canada fly high, thanks to two airline companies that are ranked among the best in the world. For the second consecutive year Air Canada has in fact been awarded Best Airline in North America, a record that has won seven times out of nine by participating in the survey of passenger satisfaction. Even the Canadian Air Transat was awarded by the excellence global benchmark of airline companies, for the second time, as Best Company in the World Air Travel for vacation travel.
Air Canada is the national company airline and the largest airline in Canada. The company recently made a series of investments to provide more and more excellent service to its passengers and maintaining high quality standards. Since 2010, it has launched a $ 10 billion capital expenditure program to improve the travel experience and, with the fleet renewal program, the launch of the Air Canada Signature Service (premium travel experience) and many other services ( e.g. satellite wi-fi), aims at a strategic expansion of the global network. During the award ceremony, Calin Rovinescu, President and CEO of Air Canada, he gave a special thanks to the 30,000 employees who work every day to provide a safe and impeccable service to over 48 million annual customers.
In the Leisure class, Skytrax passengers have rewarded Air Transat, with its wide range of destinations (60 in 26 countries) and a rich flight experience: the Club Class (exclusive cabin and priority service), the chef Daniel Vézina, Option Plus for those traveling in Economy, the Kids Club (for children aged 2 to 11 years, with discounts and surprises) and many other exclusive services. Jean-François Lemay, President and General Manager of Air Transat, said he was honored and pleased to receive this award and addressed with gratitude to the customers as well as to the ground and cabin staff of the company for their excellent work.
