Moda! Italy on the Catwalk Premiere

ICCCW is pleased to welcome Elena Pignata of Ombradifoglia, Giulia Soldà of Maatroom, and the iconic figure Nicoletta Morozzi of NABA Nuova Accademia Belle Arti at Vancouver Fashion Week (September 17th-23rd)

 

From September 17 to 23, Vancouver will become a beacon for all those who are interested in the world of fashion. Born in 2001, the Vancouver Fashion Week will welcome the participation of fashion artists from many countries, including Italy.

The nation that produced Armani, Versace and Valentino will be represented by NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti), an education Academy focusing on arts and design.

Along with NABA, Italy will also present the work of two leading fashion designers: Elena Pignata www.ombradifoglia.com  and Giulia Solda’ www.maatroom.com . The participation of Italian schools and designers to this year’s edition of the Vancouver Fashion Week is made possible by the Consulate General of Italy in Vancouver in collaboration with the Vancouver Fashion Week and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada-West.

Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti is the largest private Academy in Italy, and the first one to have been recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, back in 1980. Founded in Milan upon the private initiative of Ausonio Zappa, Guido Ballo and Gianni Colombo. NABA was selected by Frame and included in the Masterclass Frame Guide to the 30 World’s Leading Graduate Design, Architecture and Fashion Schools, by Domus Magazine as one of Europe’s Top 100 schools of Architecture and Design as well as by Business of Fashion as one of the 50 World’s Best Fashion Schools.

Founder of Ombradifoglia, a very personal and avant-garde label, Elena Pignata is an award winning Italian designer. Straight after graduating from feller institute of design and fashion, italy in 2000, at the age of 18, she wins the fashion onward grand prix award and is invited to show her creations at tokyo’s fashion week.

Elena then becomes a requested fashion consultant for several italian major brands, among others, malloni, jaggie, la martina, cotton belt (2000-now). During her career elena has also been designing for caractere of vestebene group and chervò golf wear.

Giulia is the creator of the Maatroom brand, an emerging brand of women’s clothing that was born in Turin in 2016. Giulia is keen to point out that the production process takes place entirely in Italy, from the choice of fabrics to the packaging. What distinguishes the brand is an accurate stylistic research and a particular attention to the quality of the materials of natural origin and the high quality of the fabrics.
