20 Nov Club Affaires: a meeting place to optimize business between Italy and Québec

The first meeting of the Club Affaires Québec-Italy took place on 15 of November, in the wonderful setting of Villa Blanc, in Rome. The initiative promoted by the Delegation of Québec in Italy aims to create a meeting place between Italian companies and Quebec companies operating in their respective markets.

After the introductory greetings of Dr. Luigi Abete, President of the LUISS Business School, has opened the works Marianna Simeone, Representative of the Government of Québec in Italy, who described to the companies the origin and the aims of the initiative. The meetings will take place on a regular basis and not only in Rome but in several Italian cities where the activity of the companies operating in the two markets is lively and will provide, from time to time, the presence of guests coming from Québec or from Italy. They will provide information and clarification to the benefit of companies.

“We need to talk with you”. Only through an honest dialogue can we expect to grow together. Therefore, the purpose of this Club is to get closer to you. To confront us, to share, to listen, to understand,” that’s how Dr. Simeone addressed to those present.

The initiative aims to create a meeting place, where companies can deal with the various issues and problems related to doing business in their respective countries, also showing how problems can be faced and overcome. The Delegation of Québec represents the Government so that the impulses and observations that will come will have the possibility of being immediately conveyed to those who are able to intervene.

After numerous companies presented themselves, was given the floor to the guest of honor of the opening meeting, Christelle Fasano of Montreal International that described the role and the Montréal International institutional function and how, in particular, the same is able to intervene in support of Italian companies.

Therefore, there was the intervention of Mr. Paolo Quattrocchi Director of the Centro Studi Italia Canada which, considering the group of companies, carried out an intervention on the evolution of the CETA ratification process and in particular on how the gratifying results that were found in this first year of operation, even if provisional, represent a positive signal which should not be overlooked, but to be considered as a stimulus for greater attention from both Italian and Québec companies.

To follow, a lively debate during which it emerged that even those companies that due to the nature of their business are not directly affected by CETA are still important to represent the strong relationship between Canada and Italy and how a definitive stop to ratification could, however, damage important sectors of Italian entrepreneurship.

The first meeting of the Club Affaires was necessary to illustrate the initiative to the companies and professionals present, to create a networking aimed at the business but even more to encourage the analysis of new topics of business interestThis will be followed by other meetings in different Italian cities because the objective of the Delegation of Québec and the Club is to be close to Italian and Québec companies, recording and monitoring their respective needs and aspirations.
