EU-CANADA: Exploring the benefits of closer ties ICCC is
coordinating a project, partially funded
by the European Commission, with the aim of promoting awareness among
the
business communities in Western Canada of CETA, the Comprehensive
Economic &
Trade Agreement, currently under negotiation between EU and Canada.
The goals of the project are to organize a series of activities that promote public knowledge and understanding of the EU within the business communities of the Western Provinces of Canada, to promote dialogue and debate around the proposed Agreement and to collect positive feedback and support from the business community in favour of CETA.
ICCC has developed an information package to be distributed to Canadian businesses, institutions and associations in order to illustrate the status of the negotiations and the relevant background with regards to the main economic sectors that will be influenced by CETA. In addition to sector presentations and market reports, the information package comprises a survey through which Canadian operators will be able to contribute to the negotiations of the Agreement by indicating which current issues they would like to see addressed by CETA.
Further information about the projects, the upcoming events, the documents available and the survey can be found at the following link:

Antiche Genti di
Lucania - Round table on presumed Leonardo's Self Portrait (Chieti)
We would like to congratulate Dr.

a very important art historical and scientific conference in May 2010
in Chieti, Italy at which a newly discovered presumed self-portrait of
Leonardo da Vinci will be unveiled.
A recent Canada-European Union (EU) study demonstrated that freer trade between Canada and the EU has the potential to bring a $12-billion boost to the Canadian economy and increase Canadian exports to the EU by about 20 percent. A bilateral agreement with the EU could deliver commercial benefits across many sectors of the Canadian economy, including aerospace, chemicals, wood products, automotive vehicles and parts, agricultural products, transportation and other business services.
The upcoming issue of Conexus Magazine is devoted to examining the unique relationship that Canada and the EU share. With 27 countries, more than 700 million inhabitants and a total GDP of more than US$13 trillion, the European Union is still the largest unified market in the world.
The issue looks at areas of vital concern between Canada and the European Union and the business community, such as: how increased trade with the EU will change the trade relationship between Canada and Asia, the role and long term plan of the ICCC/EU business project and the EU Community Trademark program. The magazine features interviews, articles, and opinions from independent experts including Luigi de Masellis of the Delegation of the European Union to Canada and Kurt Huebner, Chair of European Studies, the University of British Columbia.
