Project ITA-CA  “Italo-Canadian community for the internationalization of Italian Industrial Districts”

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada is currently undertaking "Project Itaca", an initiative subsidized by the European Union, involving in Canada the Italian Chambers of Commerce of Vancouver and Montreal and in Italy the Provinces of Veneto and Campania.

The goal of Project Itaca is to reinforce the role of the Italo-Canadian community and associations in order to develop and consolidate business relations with the industrial sectors of the two Italian provinces.

The Project began in August 2006 and has to be completed by July 2008.

Over the course of these two years, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada will organize activities involving the Italian-Canadian community of Vancouver in order to ensure the active participation of a broad-based selection of key stakeholders.

The earlier stages of Project Itaca are, in fact, mainly focused on providing our Italian partners with a better understanding of BC's business environment.

We are currently looking for “senior” members of the Italian-Canadian business community and the representatives of BC’s various educational institutions to act as an interface with the Itaca team and with the larger community represented by Italian associations and local institutions as well as to provide context for the team’s analysis of the economic situation in British Columbia.

Following this preliminary stage, a “Task Force” composed of approximately 15-20 “junior” resources will be selected from within the Italian–Canadian community of Vancouver.

The junior Task Force will be trained over the two years (more than 300 hours of training are currently expected, including in-class instruction, self-directed learning and project work) and with the cooperation and assistance of the institutions involved in the Project, will be responsible for developing business relations with the industrial sectors of the two Italian provinces.

We are currently recruiting people between 20 and 35 years old, with both Italian and Canadian citizenship, interested in attending the course.
