RBC 2010 update

Dear Members,

VANOC has just released their Expressions of Interest document (EOI) for companies who may have an interest in pursuing licensing opportunities with VANOC. Please refer to page 11 of the EOI and you will find a listing of the types of hardgoods and novelty/souvenir products VANOC is seeking.  The range is extensive, EOI closes July 7.

RBC Royal Bank also hosted a Business Opportunities Seminar on May 12th in Vancouver where a number of ICCC members attended.  The session hosted by Betty MacLeod, Senior Manager, Olympic Business Development, focused on sharing how businesses can begin developing strategies for success in 2010.  She shared on how businesses should start considering how they can be part of the 2010 Winter Olympics and make the Games part of their business plan.  For companies that may be too small to handle the full requirements of a bid, subcontracting to a winning bidder may be a possibility, or partnering with a competitor so both businesses can benefit.  Betty encourages businesses to consider the opportunities and to refer to the 2010 Business Guide that is available at all RBC branches.

The session included a panel discussion and Q&A session with Jim Bornholdt, Manager Procurement, Vancouver Organizing Committee, Dennis Kim, Director of Licensing, Vancouver Organizing Committee, Brian Krieger, Director of the 2010 Commerce Centre and Ian MacDonald, President, Moving Products who has been involved in 10 consecutive Olympic Games.

Tami Bradley, 2 time Olympian, Freestyle Skiing, closed the session with her inspiration story and the RBC Olympian video.
